On any given day, I need to combine both Magic and Logic…typically I need all of Edward DeBonos’ Six Thinking Hats, not to mention a few others.

I joined Playground in early 2003 and have had the privilege of working with amazing people every day since then.   I am loving it!

HISTORY

I have traveled the globe working in Western and Eastern Europe, Australia and North America, in many industries, from retail to financial services, automotive, FMCG, oil and other sectors. The constant in my career has been customer-focused sales and marketing strategy and execution. That’s what I am best at. That’s what I love.

I have worked in senior roles for PwC Management Consulting, Shell Oil and Dixons Stores Group, Europe‘s leading electrical retailer, where I was VP Marketing and VP of E-commerce and Direct Channels.

At Dixons, I grew market share and net margins, redefined and repositioned the brand, helped launch a radically new retail concept and built their e-commerce business - web sites, call centers, fulfillment infrastructure for 5 brands and 250,000 SKUs from scratch - people, systems…the lot.

Now that took a lot of logic and more than a little magic.

PLAY MEANS

Playing with ideas.  Innovation just to see where it will take you.  Exploring.  Looking at the same thing as everyone else yet seeing something different. Infusing humor and emotion into everything.  Trying as many new things as you can.  Most of all play means time with family.

OUTSIDE OF COLLIERS-PLAYGROUND

My “inner engineer” enjoys working on and driving a vintage UK sports car or two.

I love Rock and Roll and playing the Didgeridoo!  I’m the world’s worst golfer, but I have the world’s best golfing stories! 

I am happiest spending time with my wife Sue and son Alex, just hanging out at the beach or blasting down a mountainside on a board.
